It’s that time of the month! We have another cookbook giveaway. This month we are featuring Memorable Recipes by Renée Behnke.

Memorable Recipes gives you help in throwing a great dinner party with tips and tricks, do-ahead methods and allowing you to enjoy the party instead of being in the kitchen.
This exciting collection of delicious recipes, ingredients, tools, and preparations is inspired by the memorable gatherings hosted and celebrated by Renee Behnke.
Renée is the president emeritus of the culinary mecca Sur La Table, and she brings a bounty of tastes from around the world to her new work. The 140 unique recipes Renée has created from her home and discovered in her worldly travels, will keep family and friends connected. By sharing her experiences of many different cuisines and how they translate back to the American table, Memorable Recipes makes everyone feel at ease and happy to share time in the kitchen. Our most recent dinner party was for my oldest daughter’s birthday. I made our family’s favorite Italian meal of salad, homemade tomato sauce with meatballs, bracciole, and popat (a bread-crumb and egg fried dumpling that seems to be unique to our family). What made it memorable was that both of my daughters’ boyfriends were there, and we played a game called Apples to Apples which was a lot of fun. And the food was amazing (if I do say so myself.)
I recently had a dinner party as a thank you for the Sunday School teachers at our church. It was memorable because it was the first time we were all together without any kids! We had a wonderful time chatting and eating.
My last dinner party wasn’t very formal. It was more of a backyard BBQ and it was memorable to me because I made some new friends and grilled burgers and hotdogs for the first time! lol Thank you for this giveaway!
My last dinner party was a birthday party and what made it memorable was that a friend who is a pastry chef made individual cakes that had edible flowers on the top. They were both beautiful and delicious.
Yeah, that recipe is on my website here http://whatscooking.us/2009/04/09/poblano-risotto/ :)
Belle: Being over zealous can be hard, but I’ sure you “chopped” right through it. I need to learn more Japanese dishes.
Ben: Is the Poblano Risotto recipe on your WhatsCooking.us website?
Sandy: It’s always a party when it involved Football and Fajitas!
Daniel: Baked spaghetti eh? Think of it as noodl-ey lasagna!
Kim: You didn’t tell me about your favorite dinner party, come back and tell me or your entry is not valid
Jennifer: What a great idea assigning each floor a part of the meal! I agree, a progressive party would be perfect in your building.
MMW: What did you have?
Shar: Vodka as a theme eh? That’s my daily theme! Just kidding! Did they use Vodka in the Tuna Tartar?
Carlene: Luaus are fun and never go out of style!
Karin: Everyone should learn how to roll sushi. Sushi rolls can be anything you want, not just fish.
Coleen: No particular dinner party comes to mind?
Kurt: I agree, the world does need more dinner parties! Good luck on the kitchen remodel.
Sharon: So what was your last party and how did it go?
Nancy: What a way to kick off the weekend but with the Thanksgiving meal itself! Congrats to your daughter’s wedding.
Marci: Home is where the Turkey is. I have often been “homeless” for Thanksgiving and enjoyed being with friends!
K: You can be so creative with Mexican foods! Taco bar, build your own burrito bar, different kinds of meats – so much fun and flavor!
Julie: Just like K’s Mexican food bar, Pasta Bars are great too!
Deborah: Tackling food you have never cooked before can be a daunting task, but glad it turned out well in the end. I don’t think I have ever had any authentic Russian food, I’ll have to check it out.
Chrysa: Happy Birthday to your nephew!
Kerry: OMG! You win the prize for most dinner guests!
I am a mom of 6, and have 16 16 brother and sister in laws, just from my hubby! We are always hosting gatherings, and I love to find new recipes to wow them! We just had a summers here, cookout, and it was a ball! 50 Nieces and nephews were here! Thats a lotta cooking!
My most recent dinner party was also a 1st birthday party for my nephew. I helped my sister prepare food the day before. Everything tasted wonderful and she had really cute decorations to add to the atmosphere. She also made cute cookie envelopes as party favors – they were a hit!
Our last dinner party was in honor of a friend who had just returned from Russia. I made a four-course sit-down dinner of Russian foods from a very old Russian Cooking book I found in a second-hand book store. It was a huge success but so much work that I’d never do it again.
For our last dinner party we hosted family and friends for our daughters 7th birthday. We made 3 kinds of pasta and several sauces and had a big pasta bar with toppings. The kids loved it (and parents too).
The last dinner party we had was at my parents home. They threw a mexican fiesta for my sister who was going to Mexico. Everything was bright and colorful and super fun!
We often have some single friends without family for Thanksgiving. Our family is back in NJ and we love to have friends over for holidays
I would absolutely love to win this cookbook. The last dinner party I held was back in November when my daughter got married and it was over Thanksgiving weekend, so for the first time in a very, very long time we had the whole family in one place and it was wonderful!
I love to host a weekly dinner party where the conversation flows and food is discussed.
The world needs more dinner parties! Mine are usually BBQ oriented, but we’re in the middle of a kitchen remodel so I hope to expand my horizons! The last party we had was the Super Bowl, and we grilled lime-garlic prawns and fresh oysters, followed by thick ribeye steaks. Mmm!
I just love recipes. When the family or friends gets together we all have a great time having different foods to eat. Thanks for the contest, Coleen
The last “dinner party” was actually a pot luck. It was really memorable because everyone brought exotic and varieties of ethnic foods. There was even sushi and vegetarian dishes. We had so much fun eating and tasting, buffet style.
My most recent and memorable dinner party was at my mothers. It was a backyard luau. It was great fun with loads of great food. Each person brought a dish fit for a luau.
Thanks
carlene
Recently my nursery school co-op (for my 3 and 4 year old) had a fundraising progressive dinner party. I asked the theme thinking Carnival or Green or something no no it’s “Vodka”! I said well let’s just put it out there. The most memorable was actually the first home, Valerie’s, where her husband greeted me with, “Melon or Lemon” and had two drinks ready for the choosing. The appetizers of tuna tartar and stuffed mushroom caps (such boring titles compared to their execution) captivated my tastebuds. Best of all it helped our parent-teacher co-op keep on being fabulous.
Enter me please!
The last dinner party I attended (as a guest) was great! Mostly because of the great company but wonderful menu! The hostess is always so imaginative. It is always great to see what she will come up with.

My most recent dinner party was a fun potluck dinner with our neighbors. We all live in the same building of condos, so the first floor brought appetizers, the second floor brought items to go with the entree, I made the entree, and the third floor brought desert! It was so much fun because we had 4 appetizers and 4 different deserts!
I think we will try a progressive dinner next!
Sounds great Thanks for the giveaway!

I remember having a dinner party for a our school’s football game on TV. Some people brought a really good 7-layer dip, but it was awesome partaking in the baked spaghetti dish. Placing layers of spaghetti noodles and a meat sauce mixture with a layer of cheese on top. Delicious and there was enough for all! I guess presentation could have been better, but for the audience of college-aged men, it was nice enough to have meat.
ok the last time we had company over for a dinner party- it was a true party- it was superbowl sunday…so chili, fajitas and lots of fun

It seems like my friends are always having dinner parties. But the most memorable recently was my friend’s John bday dinner. I cooked a Mexican/Italian menu that included poblano risotto, green salsa lasagna and avocado dinner rolls. That was a lot of work but very rewarding :D
Our most recent dinner party was a get-together for my husband’s blackbelts. Memorable because we went with a Japanese menu but we were a bit overzealous and ended up juggling 12 different recipes! But it went well, fortunately.
Saving Diva: I always forget to have a white crayon around when dying eggs. What kind of quiche did you make? Good luck!
Belinda: Can I be your mother?? Sounds delicious!
Carol: Theme parties can be the best! No where is my bamboo hula hoop?
Cory: Mmmm…meat…
Quilting Reader: so what did you have?
Tara: I could never turn away a scone! Congrats on your baby!
Good luck everyone!
The last dinner party I went to was actually my baby shower! Two of my girlfriends went all out! They had name cards on the table next to the plate, made delicious cheese sticks and scones…they even had their own dipping sauces! It was wonderful!
I had a Mother’s day dinner party. It went really well. People took home leftovers so the food must have been better than expected.
Hehe. I host dinner parties all the time. It’s a perfect way to get a series of posts lined up in one evening. My most recent was a ribs fest with corn salad and potato salad. Nothing like a big pile of meat to rip into.
I hosted a dinner party for my mom’s birthday and invited all her girlfriends. I made it a Hawaiian themed party, and all the guests wore tropical garb. Memorable? You bet!
I hosted a lunch for Mother’s day and my dessert was cute and easy. I used clear glass footed dessert bowls and placed a vanilla wafer in the bottom of each one. Then I layered chocolate cherry pudding and cherry pie filling and topped it with a cherry in the middle and a vanilla wafer on the side of the dish. It was tasty and raved over.
I went to my friend B’s for Easter Dinner. The quiche was amazing! But the coolest part of the dinner party was the coloring of Easter Eggs during appetizers. We had a great time personalizing eggs with a white crayon.
