This just in. Food Network had some kind of event up in NYC today and announced eight new shows coming up in the next few weeks. More to come later! Variety reports the following:

“Chefs vs. City” - July 2009
Chefs Aaron Sanchez and Chris Cosentino travel from city to city taking on a pair of locas chefs in a 5 part competition.

“Extreme Cuisine With Jeff Corwin” - Fall 2009
Jeff Corwin will travel the world in search of Extreme Cuisines!

Two new shows with little information is “Worst Cooks in America” and “Foods That Changed the World”

Renewed are “The Next Iron Chef”, “Ultimate Recipe Showdown” and “The Next Food Network Star“.

“Viva Daisy” returns for a full 2nd seaason in July and an entirely new idea, “What would Brian Boitano Make“. Former Olympic skater Brian Boitano comes to the Food Network in August.
