jackson_barne_classic_grillI work near the Irvine Spectrum and always looking for places away from the actual Spectrum itself. The Jackson Barne Grill is just around the corner from my office and offers lots of great dishes, some not-so-great dishes. Since I started working there there are only a couple of dishes that I have sampled on their menu.

One of the items that is my favorite is the Chicken Ceasar Wrap. It’s filled with moist chicken, romaine lettuce and dressing. It can be wrapped in a regular tortilla or a whole wheat tortilla. I have had both versions and there is enough flavor in the filling to compensate for the Whole Wheat tortilla. I’m still getting used to Whole Wheat anything – so anything to help is nice! :) You get a choice of a side of either fries, a fruit cup or cottage cheese. I usually lean towards the fruit cup with a mixture of canteloupe, pineapple and red grapes.

Due to their proximity to the 24 Hour Fitness, a good portion of their menu is geared towards health-conscious eaters. In addition to the food, they offer some smoothies that they make fresh as you wait. I usually get the Very Berry with a shot of protien! Yummy!

I think I mentioned earlier that there were some not-so-great items on the menu. Their turkey burger is the thinest piece of meat I have ever seen. Compared to the bread, lettuce and tomato slice, the turkey patty is less than a 1/4 of an inch thick. It lacked any flavor and was quite boring. I was quite surprised by this as their beef burger has good thickness and has been moist and seasoned well.

Overall, I do eat here often, probably more so because of the proximity to the office.

Compared to the fast food choices in the center, Jackson Barnes is by far the healthier choice.

Since moving abroad, i really miss a good Chicken Ceasar Wrap! I have tried making some wraps myself, but never seem quite as good with foreign ingredients.
