Jersey Mike’s Subs has opened up a shop here. I was on my way to Wahoo’s when I saw the grand opening signs. No one was in the shop, yet the other restaurants on either side of them was busy (Panda Express and Golden Spoon Yogurt). I decided to give the new guys some business and was greeted by an employee that seemed seasoned and not timid.

They are a sub shop, so they have subs, cold and hot. I was happy to see that they didn’t have like 20 different sandwiches to choose from. I don’t think there was a choice of bread, just one kind, white with a nice crust. The bread was spongy but I’m not sure it had much taste. I ordered an Italian sub, Mike’s way which is with lettuce, tomatoes, onions with oi and vinegar, s/p and Italian seasonings.

They slice the cheese and meats fresh, deli style instead of pre-cut slices in-between pieces of wax paper.

I asked if they were new to the OC and they said they had two other locations nearby and a couple in North OC. I was surprised, I never heard of them. In addition to subs they also have wraps and salads.

The sandwich tasted fine. Nothing to write home or rave about. With Lee’s Sandwiches in the same center, I think I’ll go to Lee’s.
