Sunday’s Farmers’ Market in Aliso Viejo/Laguna Niguel

Good morning everyone! The sun is out and there is still some dense pockets of fog near the coast this morning. I had a restless night as I’m still recovering from a cold that came down suddenly on Friday. I suspect one of nephews or nieces has a cold and I caught it. The sore throat is gone, but I’m still feeling tired and having the chills. I haven’t had the inspiration to turn on the electric heater that is built into the wall of my apartment.

Well I made it out to the Sunday Farmers’ Market in Aliso Viejo/Laguna Niguel. I was pleasantly surprised at the number of farmers that attend this Sunday event. I usually go to the Irvine Farmers’ Market on Saturdays, but lately I have been wanting to sleep in on Saturdays and have missed the last few. The Aliso Viejo Farmers’ Market is located at the intersection of La Paz and Pacific Park Drive. There are about 30 vendors, many of whom are at the Irvine one as well. Sadly, the mushroom lady and the Blackmarket Bakery don’t attend this Sunday market. I picked up a few things however. What can I make with these this week? I picked up some Thai Basil, Lemongrass, Japanese Eggplant, Chinese Bittermelon, Mint, fresh Raspberries, baby bok choy and some fish. This market has a fish monger.

Well I need to attend to the kitchen this morning. My sudden sore throat has prevented me from completing the cleanup from Thanksgiving night.
