NRO: Haute Links

October 15, 2008
Scott Mindeaux

Today I had the Warsaw Link, a Polish style pure smoked pork link. The sausage link was decent sized, nice color. It was placed inside a bun that was toasted on the outside and I had an order of onion rings to go with it. The “link” was par broiled and then finished under a salamander (broiler) for color and texture. The outer casing was tough, but was able to bite through it with ease. It was certainly juicy inside. The meat in the casing was rough cut and of various sizes. To me, this shows the authenticity of the California made links. The flavor was just right for me. I like my polish sausage plain with just a small spattering of mustard.

The onion rings, surprisingly, weren’t greasy. The taste however, was nothing to get excited about. The outer breading of the ring was crispy, but the onion lacked any flavor and was very soggy. Maybe I should have had the fries, who knows.

In addition to the Warsaw, they have the Cajun (Bayou style), Salzburg (Bockwrust style), New York (pure beef hot dog) as well as some speciality ones with chicken and turkey blends. If I return, I would be most interested in trying the Greek (Chicken and turkey blended with sun dried tomatoes, olives and Feta cheese.

Overall it was ok. They are only onen from 9 AM to 3 PM. They serve breakfast as well.
