I decided that I’m going to blog about my health status on this blog as well. I think it’s important to also understand the choices I am making and how it affects me. I have struggled with my weight most of my adult life. I also have Type II Diabetes and High Blood Pressure (HBP). I suppose I knew I was going to have these problems as these are problems that existed in both of my parents’ families. But genetics aside, it is the choices I make that affect my own outcome.

I love food. There is no doubt about it. But being a diabetic doesn’t mean I can’t enjoy food anymore. What it does mean is that I need to pay closer attention to what I am eating and how much of it I take in.

I’m hoping that by documenting my health status will help others as well. So look for recipes that are heart conscious or look for tips on how to substitute certain foods with a healthier twist – it will all be here!
