Sur La Table Completes its Cookbook Series
Scott Mindeaux
Sur La Table’s newest cookbooks, The Art & Soul of Baking and Knives Cooks Love, will be making their debut next week. Their first Sur La Table branded cookbook, Things Cooks Love, was released this past Spring and has been a hit!
Things Cook Love was written by Marie Simmons.
Marie has written several award winning books like Fig Heaven, The Good Egg and 365 Ways to Cook Pasta to name a few. She is also a magazine contributor for several newspapers across the country and has written for several magazines including Food & Wine, Bon Appétit and Cooking Light. She also teaches across the country. This is where I met Marie for the first time while I was the manager of the cooking school at Sur La Table’s Arlington, VA location. She is a wonderful instructor, engages her students and pulls them in for a culinary adventure you won’t soon forget.
Noted pastry chef, Cindy Mushet, wrote The Art & Soul of Baking
Cindy is an accomplished pastry chef of over 20 years starting her career in the kitchens of Chez Panisse in Berkeley, CA . From there she has been the lead Pastry Chef for several restaurants up and down the California Coast. I had the fortune of meeting Cindy when she was an instructor at The New School of Cooking in Culver City. I describe Cindy’s teaching style as direct, yet with a smile. Cindy’s writings can also be found in places like Gourmet, Food & Wine and the NY Times. Cindy’s first cookbook, Desserts: Mediterranean Flavors, California Style showcases some of Cindy’s best recipes and highlights her ability to amaze your visual senses as well as your taste buds. Cindy will be teaching several classes at Sur La Table’s cooking school locations across the country in October.
I don’t know much about Sarah Jay, author of Knives Cooks Love. Sarah is the former Editor of Fine Cooking magazine and is currently a freelance editor and food writer. I used to teach the Knife Skills class at Sur La Table way back when. Proper use of your kitchen knives will help you be a better cook and you won’t have any accidents in the kitchen.
