José Andrés in Los Angeles

A new blogger friend, Matt Armendariz of MattBites.com, took Friday off to spend time with his guests visiting from Spain. He said they were going to spend the day at Disneyland.
Later in the day, I got a Twitter from Matt saying that he just met José Andrés inside Disneyland! How awesome is that?? Matt and his friends were very lucky indeed to have met a “Food God” as described by my friend Herb.
I had the pleasure of meeting José Andrés while I was living in Washington D.C. I have eaten at Cafe Atlantico, Jaleo and Zaytinya many times. José has definitely made a name for himself in Spain and in D.C. José even taught a class for me at Sur La Table.
José Andrés, also the host of “Made in Spain” on PBS is in town for the 26th American Food & Wine Festival being held here in Los Angeles. Tickets for the Festival have been sold out for awhile, so there is no chance I will be attending. [frown]
Speaking of Los Angeles, José will be opening a new restaurant in the new SLS hotel called the Bazaar. Described as unconventional it will feature a raw bar, a patisserie, a tapas bar and a street food cart. Andrés says it’s a little of that and a little of that. November is the targeted opening for the Bazaar.
November will also be host to the release of his third cookbook, José Made in Spain, a kin to his PBS show.

Matt, I wouldn’t be in such a hurry. I was just at the opening night of Bazaar last night. Honestly, it was a bit underwhelming.

WHAT? HE IS? WHEN? WHERE? WHAT? SERIOUSLY?
When are we going to his new place?
