Dining in SF during Macworld

Following is a post that I suggested to Adam Jackson with DailyTechTalk.com and MacworldBound.com. Also included in this version is a map of the participating restaurants that are close to the Moscone Convention Center.

Attending conferences can be fun. What can be difficult is finding good food that isn’t from the convention itself. Food concession stands are available inside Moscone, but be prepared to pay an arm and a leg for a sandwich, chips and a soda.

If you want to try something different, there are many restaurants around the Moscone Center. The nearby Westfield Mall on Market between 4th and 5th Streets has a food court of about 20 restaurants or so. There are also many places to eat all within 3 blocks of Moscone.

But want to try something even more different? Many of San Francisco’s best restaurants are participating in Dine About Town – an annual event hosted by the city’s Visitor and Convention Bureau. Restaurants offer a 3-5 course meal for lunch or dinner for a flat fee of $21.95 for lunch and $31.95 for dinner.

This is an excellent opportunity to eat at San Francisco’s Best for a great price. If you visit their website at www.onlyinsanfrancisco.com/dineabouttown you will see a full listing of restaurants. There, you can see which restaurants are offering lunch, dinner or both. Many of the restaurants also publish their Dine About Town Fixed Menus for you to see.Reservations are recommended, but if you walk-in simply let the server know you are there for the Dine About Town Event.

Reviews, directions and the closest MUNI stops for each restaurant are on the site as well as links to the restaurant’s website.

So enjoy something different and treat yourself to a wonderful meal!
