Me, Alex and a Brazilian Goucho

Yep, you read that right. A Brazilian Gaucho. Alex and I went to a Brazilian restaurant here in Irvine called Agora Churrascaria.

I wanted to take Alex to someplace different. I have always wanted to go to a Churrascaria. This place was all about the meat! 13 different kinds of meat are cooked over wood fueled flames on Brazilian swords. The Gauchos come to your table with a sword of meat and slice it off the sword. The Gaucho starts to slice the meat and with provided tongs you grab the slice and put it on your plate. The magical part is that there is no marinating. Salt and pepper is the seasoning. Some of the meats are wrapped in bacon like the Filet Mignon, but other than that we are relying on salt and pepper and the smell of the charred wood.

Nothing is more succulent that a little bit of fat that has been charred a tad. The meats were so tender. There were some not-so-tender pieces like the Parmesan crusted pork tenderloin. It was dry as cardboard. But wow, all of the red meats were soooo good! My top favorites were the lamb chops, the tri-tip and the skirt steak. There is also a “1st course” buffet with some traditional Brazilian fare, fresh vegetables, cheeses and meats. The only thing worth getting, really, was the smoothest mashed potatoes I’ve had, next to mine, of course! Save room for the meat!

A had a good time and enjoyed the meal as well. I walked out of there with both of my hands on my tummy and was FULL! Alex took me home and we talked for a bit our front. I really like Alex. I’m not sure how he feels about me, but it may be too early to find out. I just like spending time with him.

There are other good Churrascarias in the Southland. The most popular is Fogo de Chao in Beverly Hills. I’m sure there are many more, but that was the one that came to mind.

Eat MEAT! [smile]
