Drive Thru Protocols

So, I’m not proud of the fact that I frequent a couple of drive-thrus a week. Do you work for a fast-food chain and know what your restaurant’s policy is on drive-thru customers? Something that has made me upset for awhile is the policy of having to pull forward and wait in the “waiting” area. Each time, I was told to move cuz they would exceed their timer for drive-thru service. In most cases 9/10 I was told to move forward and there was NO ONE BEHIND ME. Why should I move? Why can’t I just stay there and if a car does come thru, I am most happy to move.

Tonight I went thru and was told to move forward. I asked why and he said I had to wait for food to cook. I asked if there was a car and he said, please just move forward. Well I moved forward, turned off my engine and walked into the restaurant. I asked for the name of the manager and the store number. I wanted to write corporate and report what happened to me. The employee who took my order started to have attitude towards me. The manager came out and I asked why I had to leave the drive-thru. Again it was the timer. Why is it my problem if the timer goes over quota? It should go over quota if I have to wait. I think a restaurant shouldn’t be rewarded for fast service if they cheat by moving you to the “wait” area. The wait area should be for order that take longer, but only if there is a line of cars that could be serviced in the meantime. If I am the only one in line, I shouldn’t have to move.
